Timeline
A bit of our history. Take a look to get to know us a little better.
In 2005 our director Josep Casal, with extensive previous experience as an industrial designer. He realized the need to establish “reliable bridges” between product design and final manufacturing and decided to found this company. It adopted the name WORKPLANE because the “work plane” in 3D programs is where the products involved in an industrial manufacturing process are modeled.
Our main client was for more than 10 years the multinational HP located in Sant Cugat (Barcelona) with which Josep Casal began to collaborate in 2004.
WORKPLANE’S FIRST OFFICE: Fontanella Street
With its fiscal headquarters in Ripollet, the office was established in the center of Barcelona, in Fontanella Street, with a logo and the first employees.
To emphasise the shift to a more global, product design-oriented company, the logo was redesigned, simplifying lines and eliminating shadows; A new phase was beginning.
From the good service offered, requests arose that drove the growth to new areas of action also involved in product design:
Market and ethnographic studies, visual design for screens, interaction design, interface design, user experience testing (UX), mechanical engineering… so the office in Fontanella street was too small and we moved to a bigger and closer one in Pelayo street.
In 2013, the country suffered a strong crisis that year, so we opened up in search of new business opportunities: trade fairs abroad, we attended business missions: China, Turkey, United Arab Emirates… and we opened a representative office in London to reinforce this new international vision;
The new vision of international services that I know they had materialised, gave rise to the opportunity to move to a building where this atmosphere was present every day: The World Trade Center in Barcelona;
Encouraged by the first Chinese customers, the powerful Midea and the collaboration with the business promotion agency ACCIÓ, we were encouraged to attend the prestigious Canton Product Fair as exhibitors; While it was not the success we had hoped for, it was a good experience to decide that it was worthwhile to push our services there.

Having a new space adapted to the changes in Workplane made us move again to a location closer to the means of transport, returning to the centre of Barcelona;
Edificio Colón (also known as Torre Marítima) is located in the district of Ciutat Vella, Avinguda de les Drassanes. Built in 1970, it was the first skyscraper of more than 100 metres to be built in the city. It has 28 floors and 110 metres. With the metro at its feet, parking and two Bicing stops, it is perfect for us. And this is where you can find us.

Online presence is essential for any business, so we could not delegate its creation. Avoiding clichés and showing our reach. It should be multiplatform (Responsive), offering own, clear and relevant content. We are still adding content, but we are finally here again with our third website!
